Test Footage

This is some test footage I used to try and duplicate Alison, the origional footage lighting was not suitable for the effect I wanted (cropping) so I edited the contrast and brightness. I really like the effect changing the opacity has made and has helped developed my skills on Adobe Premier

Meetings

This is a video briefly describing what was discussed during my meetings with Alison Mackinnon, the musician I am working with, Alison is a friend from high school who sings, plays guitar and keyboard and writes songs and was happy to let me make her music video

 This video also shows Alison writing and recording the song, as she wrote a new one especially.

We also during the first meeting discussed the look of the video and both decided it should have a natural style.

Denim/Rock Chic Moodboard

This is a moodborad I have created after researching Youth Subculture's showing the styling I want for my video. As Alison does do some rock-song covers I want to show a bit of her rock-chick side yet I also want a natural look to my music video so denim will help show this and I want to combine the two looks.

I learnt a lot about using Adobe Premiere to create animation during this project. I also learnt a lot more about using Photoshop, for example how to get rid of the background of an image using colour selection

Making this video I learnt a few more editing techniques on Adobe Premiere and as the song was too slow and boring we used Adobe Premiere to speed it up and it works well with the footage, so I know know how to edit a song in Adobe Premiere.

Lenka Roll With The Punches

I really like this video as it doesn't feature the singer lip-syncing to the music, which shows it is an art video. I like the way it cleverly uses stop-motion editing to show the lyrics in time to the song in differentt forms, such as matches and cushions and even fairy lights. It really suits the tone of the song and it is a very clever technique they have used. I especially like when 'no time to grow a thicker skin' is actually written in marker on her arm (her skin). It is a very effective, interesting, cheerful art video to go with a cheerful song.

Lenka Trouble Is A Friend

I really like this music video as it is a clever hybrid of an art video and a staged performance video as it has animation and live footage of the artist.It also really goes with the music, which is one of the characteristics of music video identified by Andrew Goodwin in his book 'Dancing In The Distraction Factory'

Sheryl Crow Everyday Is A Winding Road

I really like the old-style lighting in this video as it gives it an old film feel which really suit’s the country song, the footage is well captured and edited together, especially the shots of the little girl and Sheryl Crow on the swings, how it cuts from the little girl going up on the swing to Sheryl coming down on the swing and it is a really artistic video that goes really well with the song.

Spice Girls Two Become One

I really like the way the background of this video has been sped up to give a really amazing effect and with the Spice Girls in normal time and really goes with the song

Mel C Northern Star

I really like the dark lighting in this video as it looks like night yet it it shows all the detail really well so it looks like she is walking in moonlight and this really suits the tone of the song. I also really like the way the train going past has been edited in and sped up it is really effective and suits the tone of the song. It's a really beautiful video to go with a beautiful song.

Kylie In Your Eyes

I really like the visual effects at the beginning of this music video, they really suit the modern tone of the song.

Cinnamon Chasers Luv Deluxe

I really like this narrative video as they have used a head camera to create a really clever effect and has been edited together really well with the music, this really goes with the music, which is a characteristic of music video identified by Andrew Goodwin in his book ’Dancing In The Distraction Factory, and creates a clever unique music video.

I learnt a lot making this video, including how to use Adobeshop Premiere to edit footage together which I will be using a lot during A2 Media.
